Aoraki Mount Cook
Canterbury is the largest region of New-Zealand, located in the central-eastern South Island. The region covers an area of 44,508 kilometers and has a population of over 585.000. The region has beautiful planes and splendid roads to ride on. Not to mention the largest mountain on the island: Aoraki Mount Cook.
The largest city in Canterbury is Christchurch with more than 60% of the population living in this city. This city will also be visited during the trip as it is not only a large city but also a beautiful one. Canterbury was also the filming location for the Lord of the Rings. The area featured the city of Edoras and Rohan for those familiar with the movies.
Christchurch is the largest city of the south island of New Zealand. The city was ranked 2nd by the New York times on their ‘52 Places to Go in 2014‘ list. It also was at number 6 in Lonely Planet’s ‘Top 10 Cities to Visit‘ list. The city is booming and more alive than ever.
The city was also granted the nickname: ‘Garden City’ which refers to the many gardens spread throughout the city. Especially during the summer the gardens really come to life which make the city and its gardens absolutely stunning.

Lake Tekapo is a large, and beautiful, lake that is a popular tourist attraction because of the nearby old church named: the Church of the Good Shepherd. This church was built in 1935 and is still in very good shape. It is arguably the most photographed church in New Zealand due to its beautiful position besides the lake.

Aoraki Mount Cook
Aoraki is the highest mountain (3,724 metres) in New Zealand. It is also a large, and beautiful, national park where you can go hike, go cycling, go skiing or simply explore the area.
There is also a large glacier nearby called the Tasman Glacier. It is one of the largest glaciers on New-Zealand and you can view it by air, by land, by water and by ski.

If you enjoy the sealife, then you are in for a treat. Kaikoura is an absolute paradise when it comes to sealife. In this area you can find Seals, Whales, Dolphins and much more. You can also go skiing, rafting, snorkeling and quad biking.
The local speciality is the Crayfish which is absolutely worth a try. If you dislike eating fish, there are many other things to order on the menu. Kaikoura is a beautiful town that has a lot of activitities with an absolute stunning environment.

Bealey (or Arthur’s Pass)
Bealey is a small town inside the Arthur’s Pass National Park. It is surrounded by large mountains and beautiful nature making for a great area to walk around in.
There are several great hiking routes, including the Devil’s Punchbowl Falls, Bealey Valley and Avalanche Peak. In case you travel to Bealey in the winter, there is also an option to go skiing!
